Pain on the Jaw, ear and a headache?

If you have this kind of pain it might be coming from:

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is part of a complex system involving the teeth, jaw, skull, cervical spine and shoulder girdle. The TMJ and the masseter muscle (one of the strongest muscles in the body) make for an extraordinary pair and allows for movement both up and down as well as side to side. On average, the temporomandibular joint is moved 2000 times a day. If you feel the next symptoms, could mean that the TMJ is inflamed and/or the masseter muscle is tense:

  • pain at the site of the joint,

  • throbbing in and around your ear.

  • hearing / feeling clicks when moving the jaw,

  • feel the mouth stuck or blocked,

  • difficulty opening the mouth,

  • headache (which often spreads to the neck and back),

  • tiredness in the chewing muscles.
